LSAMP

Our Mission

LSAMP is designed to support the retention and persistence of underrepresented undergraduate students in STEM by providing community support, academic and professional development opportunities, as well as mentorship.

Who We Serve

All programming and paid opportunities are open to all. LSAMP's target audience is any and all who self-identify as Black or African American, Latino or Latina, Native American, Native Alaskan, or Native Hawaiian.

The Louis Stokes Alliance for Minority Participation (LSAMP) was originally initiated and funded by the National Science Foundation (NSF). As of May 2025, LSAMP at Portland State University is no longer affiliated with the NSF and will continue independently as PSU LSAMP. While we will no longer use the full name or maintain any connection with the NSF. With the support of the PSU Provost office PSU LSAMP will continue to offer programming aligned with the original mission—supporting the success of underrepresented undergraduate students in STEM.

About LSAMP

Since 2009, LSAMP has supported hundreds of students in their academic journey at PSU. These students join our welcoming community of peers and advocates. They regularly use the LSAMP Center, perform independent research in labs, or secure internships in technology and engineering fields.
